The Russian Aerospace Forces have struck 556 targets belonging to ISIS, during 164 sorties over the past three days, Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi, the chief of the main operational directorate of the Russian Armed Forces' General Staff, told journalists on Dec. 28.

"Over the past three days, since December 25, 164 sorties have been carried out, during which 556 targets belonging to terrorists have been destroyed in the Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia, Hama, Homs, Damascus, Deir ez-Zor, and Raqqah Governorates," Rudskoi said.

Russian warplanes have stepped up intensity of their strikes over the past week "in the interests of the offensive being carried out by the Syrian army and patriotic forces' armed units fighting ISIS," he said.
