Several countries wish to order non-nuclear submarines from Russia

All of the vessels in question are equipped with newest weapons on the basis of the Kalibr missile system.

Several countries would like to commission the Admiralty Shipyards to build non-nuclear submarines for their naval forces, the shipbuilder’s CEO Aleksandr Buzakov told TASS, adding that the Amur project was of special interest.

"Several countries have expressed the wish to conclude contracts with us for building submarines to protect their territorial waters. Some proposals are in the consideration phase at the level of the Russian government," Buzakov said.

The shipyards’ offer is not confined to submarines of project 636 (some are already being built for the Vietnamese Navy) and also the 636.3 configuration, available for the Russian Navy.

"Many have taken interest in the Amur project (export variety of project 677 Lada). All of these vessels are equipped with newest weapons on the basis of the Kalibr system," Buzakov said.
