Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to discuss the situation in the Middle East and bilateral cooperation in the current difficult economic situation.
"Despite the fairly difficult economic situation, we, nevertheless, continue creating cooperation mechanisms needed for expanding our interaction. Bahrain is our important partner in the Gulf and in the entire Middle East," Putin said during a meeting with the King of Bahrain on Feb. 8.
He reiterated that Russia is happy to have an opportunity to "discuss bilateral relations and the situation in the world, primarily, of course, in the region."
The Russian president thanked the King of Bahrain for accepting the invitation to visit Russia. "I remember how you and I met here 1.5 years ago," the president said.
He said the plans to develop interstate relations between Russia and Bahrain were then made.
