Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's role in the humanitarian crisis in Syria should not be demonized, as it is the terrorists who should be blamed for this, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"I believe it is wrong to demonize Assad's or anybody else's role [in the humanitarian crisis] except the terrorists. Humanitarian issues should be resolved only through cooperation," Lavrov said at the Munich Security Conference on Feb. 13.
Trying to resolve humanitarian issues in Syria as long as violence has not been stopped there is "a way to nowhere," he said.
"Saying that not all humanitarian issues have been resolved while violence has not been fully stopped is a way to nowhere," Lavrov said.
