Relations between Russia and China are going through their best period, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui told a TASS presentation on Wednesday assembled to unveil a photographic album titled "Chinese revolutionaries in Soviet Russia in the 1920s and 1930s" and chronicling little-known facts in the two nations’ history.
"This is a unique album," the diplomat said, thanking "colleagues and friends who worked on this book to assemble "material, photos and visited the places where historic buildings are located".
The 1920s and 1930s were "an important historical period which should not be forgotten", the envoy said.
"A large number of young Chinese came to Russia to search for ways to save China from colonialism," he noted, adding "They studied here and engaged in activities to save their country."
"Our relations are currently going through their best period," the diplomat went on. "We maintain very close, high-level ties," he said, recalling that Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow twice last year.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev had travelled to Beijing, where important agreements "aimed at boosting our cooperation and strategic partnership" were concluded.
The two sides were "actively developing cooperation in the humanitarian area", he said.
"In particular, the leaders of our governments agreed to dynamically develop ‘red tourism", the envoy went on. "It involves educating young people in the spirit of patriotism."
