Donbas militia accuse Kyiv of shelling Donetsk

Ukrainian government forces fired about 37 mines upon northern outskirts of Donetsk and Horlivka late on Friday

Ukrainian government forces fired about 37 mines upon northern outskirts of Donetsk and Horlivka late on Friday, a source with the security agencies of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR) said on March 5.

"Units of the Ukrainian armed forces fired six 82mm mines upon the community of Zaitseve and 31 mines of the same caliber upon the Volvo Center last night. The attacks started at about 10:00 p.m. and were finished at about 11:30 p.m.," the source told the Donetsk news agency.

The government forces also used grenade launchers and small arms to attack the militia from villages of Zhovanka and Pisky, he said.

The press center of the military operation in eastern Ukraine in Kyiv had said earlier on Saturday that the militia had fired upon government forces' positions 50 times over the previous 24 hours, including 42 times in the Donetsk sector.
