Protesters throwing eggs at Russian embassy to Ukraine

Protesters, who demand the release of Ukrainian aviator and parliamentarian Nadiya Savchenko from the Russian detention center, have been throwing eggs at the Russian embassy building in Kyiv, press secretary of the embassy Oleg Grishin said.

"They are throwing eggs at the embassy building right now," Grishin told Interfax on March 6.

Nearly 100 people who gathered for the action are chanting "Shame on Russia" and "Freedom to Savchenko", he said.

The Russian embassy filed a protest note to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry due to the last night's attack on cars of the diplomatic mission, the press secretary told Interfax.

"The embassy filed a protest note to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, because the attack was perpetrated last night, several cars were broken, flayers and smoke barrels were hurled at the embassy," Grishin said.

"But the incident did not end with this. Now a massive rally is under way at the embassy building. At first, there were nearly 150 people, but their number is on the rise," he also said.

The column is coming to the embassy from the direction of Maidan and the number of protesters has already reached 500, the diplomat said.
