Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirms Savchenko stops 'dry' hunger strike

But Ukrainian doctors are still not allowed to see her

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirms the end of the 'dry' hunger strike of Nadiya Savchenko, but Ukrainian doctors are still not allowed to see her, ministry spokesperson Mariana Betsa has said.

"Nadiya Savchenko has actually stopped the 'dry' hunger strike at the request of the international public, thousands of Ukrainians, lawyers, her family and friends, but she has stopped only the 'dry' hunger strike, not the hunger strike in general, she has just begun to drink water," Betsa told Interfax on March 10.

Ukrainian doctors, whose visit began on March 9, have not left but do not have permission to visit Savchenko either, she said. The Ukrainian consul has filed a separate request to visit Savchenko, Betsa said.
