Syrian ceasefire violated 10 times in past 24 hours

Overall, the ceasefire holds, says Russian Defense Ministry

Ten breaches of the ceasefire have been recorded in Syria in the past 24 hours, according to the center for reconciling the warring parties in Syria.

"Ten ceasefire violations were recorded today: four in Aleppo, three in Latakia, and one each in Idlib, Homs and Hama," the center said in an information bulletin published on the Russian Defense Ministry's website on March 16.

"Overall, the ceasefire holds, the number of violations with the use of heavy weaponry has dropped," the center said.

"The number of armed groups, which have announced their commitment to honor the conditions of the ceasefire, is 42," the center said.

Consultations have continued with four opposition political parties and movements in Syria, according to the bulletin. "The discussions focused on problematic aspects of the reconciliation process and ways to resolve them," the military said.

The number of populated areas with whose leaders truce agreements have been reached has remained the same - 51, the center said.

Specialists from the Russian center attended a meeting with representatives of pressure groups, political and public organizations in the provinces of Daraa and Damascus, according to the bulletin. "They discussed coordination of efforts in the cessation of hostilities and delivery of humanitarian cargoes," reads the document.
