Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, and Head of the European Union Delegation to Russia, Vygaudas Usackas, discussed the ongoing intra-Syrian talks and the withdrawal of most of the Russian Aerospace Forces' contingent from Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The meeting dealt with the situation taking place in the Middle East and in North Africa, with an emphasis placed on a set of issues pertaining to the settlement process in Syria, including in the context of the intra-Syrian negotiating process that started in Geneva under the UN aegis on March 14, and also the Russian Federation's decision to withdraw the main part of its Aerospace Forces group from the Syrian Arab Republic, after it basically attained the goals set for it," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website on March 18.
The meeting was arranged at Usackas's request, it said.
