A base on the Moon may be built by 2035, Roscosmos Executive Director for Manned Programs Sergei Krikalev has said.

"According to the approved policy fundamentals, there will be a landing on the Moon before 2030 and a lunar base will be built by 2035," he said.

Most probably, the base will house a scientific laboratory, Krikalev said. "The regime of visits is still being discussed: it could be either the ISS style, in which crews replace one another, or a method, according to which one crew comes back and brings the results, the results are studied, after which the next crew goes on mission," he said.
