Russian citizen Vadim Tumakov who, according to some media outlets, has allegedly been killed in Syria, was discharged from the Interior Ministry Forces twelve years ago, Interior Ministry Forces press bureau chief Vasily Panchenkov told Interfax-AVN on April 6.
"Vadim Tumakov was recruited as a conscript for military service in the Russian Interior Ministry Forces; he was a baker in the supply and support group of the Vityaz special operations unit in 2002-2004. Consistent with the Law on Military Service, he was discharged from the Interior Ministry Forces upon the end of his military service," Panchenkov said.
"We do not monitor what happens to former privates and sergeants. The Interior Ministry Forces are not responsible for the past twelve years of his life," he said.
"In line with the law, the Interior Ministry Forces accomplish their tasks only inside the country. Not a single soldier or officer is staying outside Russia," Panchenkov said.
