The mother of American student, Colin Madsen, who died in Buryatia, collected her son's body and flew back to the United States on Thursday, Colin's friends told Interfax.

"They flew away this morning. The cause of Colin's death has yet to be established. The results of all tests will be ready in a month," said one of the dead student's friends.

It was reported that the 25-year-old U.S. citizen, who was a language student at Irkutsk State Linguistic Institute (a branch of Moscow State Linguistic University), disappeared after leaving a guest house in the village of Arshan, in Buryatia's Tunkinsky district, in the early hours of March 27.

Rescuers found his body two kilometers away from Arshan on April 4. The documents and cash inside in his clothes remained untouched.

According to local investigators, the American may have died because of low outside temperatures.

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the group of people Colin was with on that night were taking drugs. His mother, however, wrote on Facebook on April 6, that her son may have been a victim of a crime. She also denied that her son drank alcohol.
