Elections in Syria are a major factor for stabilization in the country, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said on her official Facebook page.
"Syria today is holding parliamentary elections," Zakharova writes. "More than 7,000 polling stations and 3,500 candidates in 13 of the 15 provinces - Raqqa and Idlib - remain under the control of terrorists. Against the background of what is happening in Syria elections are an important factor for stabilization."
Zakharova recalls that the TV channel Euronews "kept broadcasting reports about elections in South Korea, the internal political situation in Brazil, and the scandal over pedophilia among French Catholic priests."
"But not a word has been said about parliamentary elections in Syria, which in contrast to the South Korea ones, have a direct bearing on the situation in Europe," Zakharova said. "Yesterday the Euronews channel telecast a report on the day of calm before the Syrian elections. Today, when the elections are being held, it’s a ‘day of calm’ on Euronews.".
