Spain wants swift resolution of sanctions imposed on Russia and considers such measures to be harmful for all European countries.
"It is difficult to predict what will happen [at the EU summit] in June [...], but the Russian government should be certain that Spain will always support the quick solution of sanctions, which are harmful not only to Russia, but also to Spain and other countries," Spanish Ambassador to Russia Jose Ignacio Carbajal said in an interview with Interfax.
"In comparison with other countries of the European Union, Spain's stance with regard to Russia has always been more genial and more benevolent. Spain has always been on Russia's side," he added.
At the same time, the ambassador said that Madrid is certainly "following all steps that Russia is taking to deescalate the situation in Donbass."
