Putin welcomes Kudrin back to work with the Kremlin

Former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin to work with presidential expert institutions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sees the current government as responsible and professional and at the same time welcomes former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin's intention to be more actively involved in the work of presidential expert institutions.

"I said I do not view [the government] as incapable. On the contrary, it is bearing the burden of responsibility very worthily and is performing its duties professionally," Putin said when asked whether he was satisfied with the government's work in an interview shown in a Saturday news program hosted by Sergei Brilev on Rossiya-1 (VGTRK) television channel.

Putin was asked the same question during Thursday's Q&A session.

In explaining why Kudrin was encouraged to be more actively engaged in expert institutions, Putin said, "You know, I have never lost contact with Alexei Leonidovich [Kudrin]. We have always maintained friendly relations. He is a very good specialist and a brilliant expert. And if he wants to make his contribution to resolving the problems facing the country, why not? He wants this now."

"The format of his involvement in our joint work that we have found together with him satisfies him, and I believe it satisfies us as well," he said.
