Russia and India have established a privileged strategic partnership, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday at a meeting with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.

"Our intensive political dialogue reflects the special nature of a privileged strategic partnership," he said. "Our dialogue is no less rich this year."

"Today we have a good opportunity to exchange views on how the highest-level agreements are implemented and how we are preparing for new meetings," Lavrov noted. "I am grateful for the support of the Russian BRICS chairmanship. Currently India is at the helm, we will support the program of your chairmanship in every possible way."
