Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov hopes to discuss with his Ethiopian counterpart Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus the prospects of developing trade and economic cooperation and exchange opinions on the situation in the Horn of Africa.
"We value long-term friendly ties with Ethiopia, we are interested in further development of cooperation," Lavrov said before the meeting. "A lot is being done in bilateral relations, and there are even more plans," he added.
"We hope that today we will be able to discuss condition and prospects of cooperation in trade and economic and humanitarian spheres and exchange opinions on the international and African agenda. Of course, your assessments of the situation in the Horn of Africa, in Africa in general, are useful for us," the foreign minister noted.
Ghebreyesus noted in turn that he hopes to discuss "bilateral relations with a special emphasis on trade and economic sphere, as well as the agenda on peace and security in the region." "The region is in fact characterized by instability, and discussing problems connected with the Horn of Africa has special significance for us," he stressed.
