TV is Russians’ main source of news — poll

About one-third of Russians (27%) said they turn to the Internet for news.

Some 57% of Russians say TV programs are the main source for information about current events, a nationwide public opinion poll suggests.

"Television remains the main mass media for Russians and the most trusted source of information," the All-Russia Public Opinion Center (WCIOM) said on Wednesday.

According to the pollster, 75% of Russians trust the reports of the central TV channels.

About one-third of Russians (27%) said they turn to the Internet for news, while only three percent cited printed media as their main news source, the pollster said.

WCIOM polled 1,600 Russians in 46 regions in mid-January. The statistic error does not exceed 3.5%.
