Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and also citizens of Georgia and Ukraine on the 71st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Kremlin press service has reported.
In his congratulatory addresses, the Russian president emphasizes that the Victory day is a sacred holiday which will stay a symbol of heroism and unity of the peoples who defended their homeland in bloody fights and saved the world from fascism for ever.
Putin emphasized that one cannot allow a revision of the common history and let the tragic events of the past occur again. Our common duty is to carefully keep the memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War and care for the surviving war veterans, the president said.
The president expressed confidence that the ties of friendship and brotherhood tested in the joint fight will stay a foundation for consistent strengthening of interstate relations and promote the development of integration processes on the Eurasian space.
Putin gave the words of sincere gratitude to all war veterans and homefront workers and wished them good health and a long life.
