Ukraine may not participate in next year's Eurovision if Russia’s Sergei Lazarev wins the song contest, director of Ukraine’s national TV company channel Zurab Alasania said on Friday.

"If Lazarev wins, I think next year Ukraine’s First TV channel will skip the contest again," Alasania said on his Facebook page.

Lazarev, 33, is currently the bookmakers’ favorite with his entry "You Are the Only One".

Ukraine’s singer Jamala is ranked fourth after the second semifinals.

Ukraine refused to participate in last year’s Eurovision due to financial problems.

Russian singer Dima Bilan won the event in 2008.
