Several crews operating Iskander-M tactical missile systems of the Western Military District based in the Ivanovo region have been redeployed to the northern part of the Moscow region for exercises, Western Military District press officer Col. Igor Muginov told Interfax-AVN on May 18.
"Iskander-MS systems will be involved in demonstration tactical exercises with senior commanders of the Russian armed forces' missile and artillery forces," Muginov said.
Taking part in the exercises will be about 100 servicemen, over 50 items of combat and special military hardware, and about 150 high-ranking missile and artillery forces officers, he said.
The Western Military District missile crews involved in the exercise marched under their own power for over 300 kilometers from base camp toward the battle order deployment site, Muginov said.
In the course of the demonstration exercise, the crews will have to arrange launch sites and practice the unloading of a weight-size mock-up missile from a transporter-loader onto a launcher.
"In addition, the launcher crews will demonstrate the delivery of a single and multiple training strikes and the practicing of anti-fire maneuvers with support from special units," he said.
