Two churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in the territory of the Rivne region in Ukraine have been burgled, the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate said on May 26.
The crimes were committed in the Sarny district in the early hours of May 25. According to the priests' reports, donations for injured servicemen and disabled children were stolen from St. Michael's Church of the village of Velyke-Verbne; and in the Church of the Resurrection in the village of Male-Verbne the church's cash register was looted and a safe stolen.
An investigation is currently underway.
A total of 20 acts of vandalism, arson and burglaries of churches have been committed in the Rivne region in the past year, the report on the website said. No perpetrators have been found.
