The leaders of Russia and India will hold a meeting in Goa on October 15, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India in the Russian Federation Pankaj Saran said on Thursday.

"For us, partnership with Russia is among the most important partnerships that India has with any country in the world," Saran said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. "We have decades of experience dealing with each other, we have gone through different phases of our national development," he added.

"Despite all these changes for the last few decades the one constant that has characterized Indian foreign policy is the relationship with Russia. And this has remained intact despite all the changes in the world, all the different winds that are blowing," the ambassador noted.

"Our political and strategic relationship remains at its best. We have a special and strategic privileged partnership with each other. We have a system of annual summits between the two leaders," Saran continued.

"India will be hosting the next annual summit between India and Russia on October 15 in Goa and on this day India will also be hosting the next BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) summit," he reminded.

"We have already begun to prepare for this important meeting which will attract the attention of the entire world," Saran concluded.
