Russia to hand R-32 cruise missile boat over to Egypt in July

The move is expected to strengthen Russian-Egyptian relationship.

The handover of an R-32 boat armed with Moskit missiles to Egypt is scheduled for July, Viktor Kochemazov, head of combat training at the Russian Navy, told reporters on Saturday.

In 2016 the Russian Navy is planning a number of bilateral exercises, including Naval Interaction-2016 with China, Indra-2016 with India and the Friendship Bridge with Egypt, Kochemazov said.

"Also, an R-32 boat will be handed over to Egypt in July as part of the strengthening Russian-Egyptian relationship," he added.

A source in the shipbuilding industry told Interfax that the boat will be armed with Moskit anti-ship cruise missiles.
