Russia meets its global strategic security obligations, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Thursday.

"Russia has obligations in terms of ensuring both European and global strategic security. Russia fully meets them," he said.

However, the Kremlin official declined comment on the words of the US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump who has said that the United States, if Russia attacks one of the NATO countries, would come to the aid of that country only if it fulfills its obligations before the United States.

"I would not comment on the issue of obligations of other countries to the United States", he said, adding that Trump’s statements about Russia’s hypothetical attack at NATO member countries are "not a very good choice of words."

"Talking about saying pointless things about Russia’s hypothetical attack at somebody is not a very good choice of words," Peskov said.
