Russia’s Almaz-Antey Corporation will open a maintenance and repair center in Sevastopol in Crimea on the eve of Navy Day, the corporation’s press office said.
The center will be designed to provide maintenance and repair for military and special hardware, the press office added.
"The project is estimated at 120 million rubles [$1.8 million]. We expect our project to stimulate the development of the region, strengthen its defense potential and give an impetus to other initiatives of this type," Corporation CEO Yan Novikov said.
According to the press office, the work to build the center started in May 2016 and was carried out at the corporation’s own expense.
As the corporation CEO said, the maintenance center will be located in close proximity to air defense and Black Sea Fleet units based in Crimea.
The center is expected to make it easier to provide maintenance and repair for systems based on the peninsula.
The center is planned to start fulfilling orders in September 2016.
