Ukraine bans 243 Russian companies from working on its territory

Russian firms work with Donbass businesses, says Ukrainian Security Service

Ukraine has banned 243 Russian companies from operating on its territory because of their cooperation with companies on Donbass territories not controlled by Kiev, the press service of Ukrainian Security Service said on July 29.

"According to materials of the Security Service of Ukraine, foreign economic activity of 243 Russian companies was stopped," the press service said.

Russian companies also worked with Ukraine on legal grounds and were not subject to economic sanctions imposed by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

The press service added that Kiev believes "Ukrainian producers will be able to fully substitute for Russian imports" from the banned companies.

In September 2015 the Ukrainian presidential decree came into force, imposing "personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)" on 388 individuals, including Russian citizens, politicians, CEOs, journalists, Donbass residents. Sanctions were also imposed on 105 legal entities.
