Syrian conflict may be settled fully by political means only - Putin

'Fighting threats of terrorism may be possible only in joint efforts'

A final settlement of the conflict in Syria may be achieved by political means only, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said during an informal meeting of the BRICS leaders (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) on sidelines of the G20 summit in China on Sept. 4.

The Russian leader said Russia jointly with other counterparts managed to establish in Syria’s some regions the ceasefire regime and to begin inter-Syrian talks.

"Final settlement of conflicts of the kind may be possible exclusively by political means," Putin said.

The Russian president continued saying "realistic fighting threats of terrorism may be possible only in joint efforts of all involved countries."
