Russian defense minister congratulates servicemen on the Tankers Day

The holiday was established in Russia 70 years ago

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has congratulated servicemen, veterans and employees in the defense industrial complex on the Tankers Day celebrated on Sept. 11, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The Tanker Day was established in our country 70 years ago. It recognizes the invaluable contribution of servicemen of tank mechanized troops to defeating the enemy in the Great Patriotic War (WWII - RBTH), as well as achievements of scientists, constructors, tank engineers in the technical equipment of the Armed Forces," Shoigu said.

He stressed that tankers "at all times showed unprecedented courage, solidarity, powerful spirit, readiness to fulfill the assigned tasks with dignity."

"And now the personnel of tank regiments, formations and military units is improving its professional training and military training, by relying on the experience of their predecessors," Shoigu stressed. He noted that Russian crews demonstrated exceptional operation of military vehicles at the International Army Games this year. The Russian team has won tank biathlon for the fourth time in a row this year.
