Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom is getting ready to cast "first concrete" at the construction site of units N3 and N4 of the nuclear power plant Kudankulam in India, head of the state corporation Sergei Kirienko said at the 60th Annual Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference.
"We are preparing the first concrete for units N3 and N4 of this plant and until the end of the year we expect to sign documents for the construction of blocks N5 and N6," he said.
In August 2016, the ceremony of handing over the first power unit of NPP Kudankulam to the Indian nation took place.
In late August, the second unit of the nuclear power plant was connected to the national power grid.
Russia and India have cooperated for many years in the nuclear sector. In total Russia plans to build in India up to 25 nuclear reactors in different regions.
