Media claims Russian President Vladimir Putin is in fact in isolation in the international scene have nothing to do with the reality, because the tight schedule of his meetings with foreign partners refutes such speculations, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
"The president has not been in isolation," he said about Putin’s canceled visit to France, originally scheduled for Oct. 19.
"Last week we saw French media reports the Russian president was allegedly insisting on his visit to France in an attempt to get out of isolation. This is absolutely absurd," Peskov said.
"The president’s tight international schedule testifies to the opposite. The Russian president is experiencing no problems in that context," Peskov added.
About Putin’s just-canceled visit to France Peskov said that "from the outset Putin in his conversations with Francois Hollande said that he would be prepared to pay the visit when the French side feels comfortable."
"If it is not comfortable for President Hollande, any other date will be selected by mutual agreement," Peskov said.
Asked why the current situation was uncomfortable for the visit immediately after a surge of disagreements between Paris and Moscow over Syrian settlement Peskov advised to address the question to the Elysee Palace.
