Russia Beyond the Headlines (RBTH), an internationally recognized source of news about Russia, launched a second edition of its free application for iPad. The app is featured in the Newsstand and provides an enriched multimedia experience. The first edition of RBTH’s app was introduced last November and given a five-star rating on iTunes.
The new version of the RBTH iPad app has moved to the Newsstand, allowing users to find it easily among other media titles on their tablet. This free app will prompt all readers to subscribe in order to activate the app. The subscription feature helps to deliver data to the iPad faster and gives the publisher an opportunity to communicate with readers.

“The RBTH app for iPad has been a great product so far- people like it. Since the launch of the first version in November 2011, RBTH's global digital audience has grown 4 percent thanks to this platform, and this number keeps growing,” said New Media Projects Directors Olga Ivanova. “We are very proud of improvements we have implemented in the new version of the app. It is now faster and has more business news and multimedia content. Its design is more attractive. The app was moved to the Newsstand and uses a free subscription model now. We also introduced an advertising feature in this version of the app. Chinese and German language versions of the app are coming soon to the market. Those are two very promising markets.”
“A survey conducted in April of 2012 showed that our readers are happy with the functionality, design and the quality of our content, both written and multimedia. They asked us to provide more articles and to issue materials more often. They specified topics like business, culture and politics,” said RBTH Market Research Director Oleg Burukhin.
