Caucasus

The Black Sea Coast is the part of Russia with the most well-developed tourist infrastructures. This is where you can get to know the country without having to compromise on comforts. A land of contrasts, it offers sightings of both steppe and desert, pelicans and flamingos, growing cactuses and blooming lotuses. Meanwhile, the Caucasus boasts Europe’s tallest mountains and Mount Elbrus, the tallest of them all. You can come here for some snowboarding or kite-surfing, horse-trekking through the mountains or bathing under waterfalls, rafting through mountain rivers or mingling with the locals in the Old Believers’ villages. Visitors come from all over Russia for the river-fishing culture, to enjoy the music during the Cossack festivals and take the air in while on a hang-glider.
