Russia could commence delivering the S-400 missile defense system to China by the end of the year, Sputnik News reported citing a high-ranking military source.

The advanced surface-to-air missile system has a range of 248 miles and is capable of tracking and destroying all existing aerial targets, including ballistic and cruise missiles.

China agreed to purchase the S-400 system for $3 billion in November 2014. Russia is also in talks to sell the system to India.
