World Press Photo laureates from Russia and the Soviet Union in Amsterdam

RUSS PRESS PHOTO presents its newest large-scale project – a collection of all Russian and Soviet World Press Photo-winning photographs throughout the contest’s history, 1955 to 2013.

The exhibition is part of the official cultural program of the Year of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, scheduled by the Rossotrudnichestvo federal agency for 2013.

The project also has the honor of participating in two cultural events of international significance: first, the World Press Photo Awards Days-2013 in April 2013, where it will be presented together with the exhibition of current World Press Photo winners in Amsterdam's oldest religious building - the XIII century Oude Kerk Cathedral; and second - the "Russian Constellation" festival, organized as part of the Year of Russia in the Netherlands.

The exhibition will be the first truly major show of Russian press photography abroad, fully demonstrating the achievements of Russian photographers in the World Press Photo arena. The exposition consists of 505 images by 117 authors. During the exhibition there will be a presentation of the English version of the project’s acclaimed photographic album, «WORLD PRESS PHOTO LAUREATES FROM RUSSIA AND THE SOVIET UNION, THE COMPLETE OVERVIEW».

These events in Amsterdam will only be the beginning of the project’s European tour. Later, the exhibition will travel to Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and other European countries.
