"Nina Karlsson" is a jazz and indie-rock band formed in St Petersburg in 2008. It is also the name of the band’s lead singer.
Nina was a big hit on the stage of nightclubs, and this
encouraged her to embark upon a solo career. Later on, bassist Viktor
Pro of The Krolls joined her, followed a by drummer Alexander Potapov.
So the Nina Karlson band finally took off in 2009.
The stage name Nina Karlsson has a story behind it. While performing bans'd soloist Nina used to wear dungarees, which reminded her friends of the Russian cartoon
Karlsson-on-the-Roof (based on the series of children’s books by
Swedish author Astrid Lindgren). The second ‘s’ in the title was actually a typo in
one of the posters, but it somehow caught on and the band rebranded as
Nina Karlsson.

The lyrics to Nina’s song are exclusively in English.
Lyrics: Winds Of May |
The Winds of May, that dance on sea, Dancing a ring-around in the glee From furrow to furrow, while overhead The foam flies up to be garlanded, In the air... From furrow to furrow, while overhead The foam flies up to be garlanded, From silvery arches spanning the air... Saw you my true love anywhere? Welladay! Welladay! Welladay For the winds of May! The Winds of May, that dance from the sea, Dancing a ring-around in the glee From furrow to furrow, while overhead The foam flies up to be garlanded, In the air... In the air... In the air... In the air... |
