‘Silk Road,’ an international art exhibition is being held at the Russian Art Gallery in Beijing.
The ‘Silk Road’ exhibition is a joint project of 43 artists from nine countries: Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey.
The exhibition was conceptualized by the artists after they took part in the 10th Silk Road international art conference in Yelabuga, Russia (200 km east of Kazan) in 2015.
The exhibition features 52 paintings.
‘Silk Road’ is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Yelabuga’s most famous son is well-known Russian artist Ivan Shishkin.
China wants to promote cultural cooperation between members of the SCO and countries that fall in the ancient trading route.
