The ancient Zhiguli mountains are stretching along the right bank of Volga river, making an intricate chain of steep hills split by ravines and canyons. This wonderful area is worthily called the "Pearl of Russia".

A cruise around will be a real pleasure, as Zhiguli mountains are exceptionally picturesque. A peninsula, the Samarskaya Luka, formed by a deep bend of the Volga, is a marvelous and attractive place. It is a reserved, mystic land poetized in legends and tales. The Zhiguli has seen a lot and still keep secrets and mysteries in its depths.

The picturesque village Shiryaevo was founded on the bank of the Volga at the foot of the Zhiguli mountains in 1643. Shiryaevo is a popular sightseeing and recreation place with the museum house of the great Russian painter Ilya Repin.
