Blood donors: Everyday heroes of Moscow

Muscovites are being asked to roll up their sleeves and give blood at the "Blood Service" donor mobile as it travels around the Russia's capital. 

Mobile blood transfusion station of the Bakoulev Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery is one of the two such vehicles in Moscow. But there are more of these mobile stations in other cities of Russia. 

The procedure of blood sampling lasts for about 10 minutes. Usually, 25 donors per day gives their blood to the medical crew of the"Blood Service" vagon. 

In order to donate blood one should have done following: 

1) Not to drink alcohol / smoke for 2 days before the fractionation;

2) To have a sufficient breakfast hours before the fractionation;

3) To undergo an express test for HIV and viral hepatitis minutes before the fractionation;

4) To answer questions about medical history minutes before the fractionation.

All of blood donors in Moscow should have the permanent registration in the city, thus non-residents are not allowed.
