Cinematryoshka: Folk story at the crossroads of cinema and literature

In 2004 Russian director Alexey Fedorchenko have met Russian writer Denis Osokin. Since then they created together numerous documentary and feature films.

Among their best productions there are "Silent Souls", nominated for the Golden Lion at the 67th Venice Film Festival and the recent "Celestial Wives of the Meadow Mari", that has taken some awards at TarkovskyFest and goEast Film Festival. Nowadays it is selected to be screened in the Vanguard section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. That will coincide with the first screenings in Mari El - the region that inspired the filmmakers.

The director Alexey Fedorchenko and writer Denis Osokin are looking forward to receiving the feedback not only from critics but from Mari El audience. At the same time they are starting to prepare for the next shooting. The next story will be based on the early Osokin's book "Angels of the Revolution," a collection of short stories.
