Russia calls for partnership between EAEU, SCO and ASEAN

Dmitry Medvedev called for talks on a broad partnership.

Russia is looking to initiate talks on an economic partnership between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Prime Minister Medvedev was cited by RT.com as saying on Dec. 15.

“Russia proposes starting consultations with the Eurasian Economic Union and Shanghai Cooperation Organization, including the counties joining the alliance, and with countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on the creation of an economic partnership based on the principles of equality and mutual interests,” Medvedev said during a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government in Zhengzhou, China, according to the report.

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed such an idea during his annual state of the nation address in the first week of December.
