Michael Klimentyev/RIA NovostiRussia’s very own Terminator failed to get President Vladimir Putin’s pulse racing during a visit to Russia’s Karelia Region, so the makers of a new hi-tech bracelet will have been hoping for a more enthusiastic reaction. Sadly, this didn’t happen.
“This smart wristband is the first device in the world measuring the level of emotional strain and the level of hydration via skin,” said an employee of the Agency of Strategic Initiatives, which produces the bracelet.
When the device was put on Putin’s wrist, he laughed and joked if the percentage indicator on the side measured the gadget’s service cost. Unnerved, the employee stood firm and explained the wristband’s functions.

“There is an option that measures stress… one needs to wait for 30 minutes though, it won’t show the result immediately,” he said.
At this point, the cheerful looking president burst into laughter. The presenter could not go on with his speech and silence fell over the room. “Shall we wait [for 30 minutes] or will you continue?” asked Putin after remarking that in 30 minutes anyone wearing the bracelet would fall asleep and their stress level would tail off.
Oh dear.
