Indonesian president calls Russia a strategic partner.

The upcoming Russia-ASEAN jubilee summit in Sochi will help strengthen ties between Russia and the Southeast Asian grouping Indonesian President Joko Widodo told TASS.

“I am convinced the summit will make it possible to strengthen relations between ASEAN and Russia,” Widodo told the news agency. “Moscow is a strategic partner both for the Association and Indonesia. At the upcoming meeting, the leaders of ASEAN and Russia are to discuss ways to further strengthen our cooperation.”

Sochi will host the Russia-ASEAN summit on May 19-20. Russia and ASEAN are marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a dialogue partnership.
