Altai (Republic)

There are two Altais in Russia - a republic and a krai ('territory'). And if the Altai Krai is more about steppes and forests, the Altai Republic is about mountains.

There are grandiose peaks and untouched nature everywhere. Many Russian and foreign tourists go there in search of adventures.

The emblem of the Altai Republic is turquoise, just like the color of its most famous river, Katun, in late summer.
