Breaking the ice on Red Square: Curling teams preparing for Sochi Olympics

On January 22, in the lead-up to the Sochi Winter Olympics, Moscow’s Red Square hosted the Red Square Classic, a round of the World Curling Tour. The Russian team, from Saint Petersburg, defeated the Canadian team by a score of 4:1.

A total of 8 leading world curling teams took part in the outdoor competition. Athletes from Switzerland, Scotland, Denmark, and the Czech Republic participated in addition to the finalists.

According to predictions for the Olympic Games, the Russian women’s team has the best chance of winning the gold medal. As for the men, the Canadian team is most likely to take first place.
