Units of the Southern Military District, with the participation of separate units of the Airborne Troops and military-transport aviation, held the snap exercises on February 8-12.
Up to 8,500 personnel, some 900 units of military equipment, about 50 combat ships, as well as up to 200 aircraft and helicopters, took part in the drills.
The practice of conducting snap drills to inspect the Russian Armed Forces has proved to be successful and should be continued, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on February 9.
