Russia, Azerbaijan reach deals on transit tariffs from India to Russia

The Railways of Russia and Azerbaijan have agreed on attracting cargo transportation by organizing transportation of goods between India and Russia via Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as on coordinating transit tariffs on them, reports the Railways of Russia’s press release.

"The Railways of Russia holding company and the JSC "Azerbaijani Railways", under the program of development of the "North — South" International Transport Corridor, have agreed to cooperate for attracting cargo transportation on the Azerbaijani and Russian railways through an organization of transport of goods from India — Iran — Azerbaijan — Russia and in the return direction", is said in a statement released on Monday by the Railways of Russia.

The first shipments on the mentioned routes are planned for the end of March 2016.
