Visit to lay groundwork for Shinzo Abe’s informal Russia visit.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Tokyo on April 15 to hold talks with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida, Kyodo news reported.

“One of the aims of the visit is to prepare for Russian-Japanese contacts at the top level,” Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the news agency.

Japanese Prime Minister is expected to visit Russia in May for an informal visit and is likely to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi.
