On January 29th, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in partnership with the Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizn (International Affairs) magazine and the Russian Union of Journalists concluded the 1st All-Russia Contest for Young International Journalists.
The list of 33 nominees in three categories (Best Analytical Article, Best Interview and Best Reporting) included two editors of Russia Beyond the Headlines, Artem Zagorodnov and Ekaterina Zabrovskaya.
Participation in the contest was open to all Russian journalists between the ages of 22 and 35 that have written on international affairs.
Artem Zagorodnov, Executive Editor for US & UK editions at RBTH, took second place in the Best Reporting category for his article on the 2012 APEC summit preparations in Vladivostok. Artem, who lived in the United States between the ages of three and 21, wrote the original article in English.
The jury gave third place in the Best Interview category to Ekaterina Zabrovskaya, the RBTH International Relations Editor, for her piece 'Russia and Australia Need to Fill Information Vacuum'. Ekaterina said at the ceremony she was happy to fulfill her grandmother’s dream of her becoming an international affairs journalist.
